Our Lady of Fatima
On May 13, 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, beginning six monthly apparitions in which she called for prayer, penance, and the Rosary. The Miracle of the Sun on October 13 was witnessed by approximately 70,000 people. The Fatima message has profoundly shaped twentieth-century Catholic devotion.
