Our Lady of Sorrows

A memorial honoring the seven sorrows of Mary — the prophecy of Simeon, the flight into Egypt, the loss of Jesus in the Temple, meeting Jesus on the way to Calvary, the Crucifixion, the taking down of the body, and the burial. Celebrated the day after the Exaltation of the Cross. One of the most beloved Marian titles especially in Hispanic Catholic tradition.

Why it matters for your parish: Our Lady of Sorrows has deep resonance in Latino and Filipino communities and for anyone who has experienced grief. Her seven sorrows connect the Rosary's Sorrowful Mysteries to a Marian feast.
