October 7

Our Lady of the Rosary

Established in 1573 by Pope Gregory XIII to commemorate the Christian victory at the Battle of Lepanto on October 7, 1571 — a victory Pope St. Pius V attributed entirely to the intercession of the Rosary. October is the traditional month of the Rosary, and this feast anchors the entire month of Marian prayer.

Why it matters for your parish: October is the month of the Rosary — this feast is the liturgical center of the entire month's devotion. Universally high engagement content. The Lepanto story adds historical drama to a devotional feast.
