St. Mark
The author of the earliest and most fast-paced Gospel, Mark was a companion of both Peter and Paul and is believed to have based his Gospel largely on Peter's firsthand accounts of Jesus. He later founded the Church in Alexandria, Egypt, where he was martyred. His symbol is the winged lion.
