St. Andrew

The brother of Simon Peter and the first apostle called by Jesus, Andrew introduced Peter to Christ — making him the "first-called" in the Orthodox tradition. He was crucified on an X-shaped cross in Achaea, Greece, spending two days on it preaching to those around him. He is the patron saint of Scotland, Russia, Ukraine, and Greece.

Why it matters for your parish: Andrew's feast closes November and the liturgical year before Advent begins. As the one who brought Peter to Christ, he is the model of simple, faithful witness.
