St. Blaise

A fourth-century bishop of Sebaste in Armenia martyred under Emperor Licinius around 316 AD. Known for miraculously healing a boy choking on a fishbone, he became one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. The blessing of throats on his feast day remains one of the most widely observed popular devotions in the Catholic Church. He is the patron saint of throat ailments.
