St. Dominic

A thirteenth-century Spanish priest who founded the Order of Preachers — the Dominicans — in response to the Albigensian heresy, emphasizing preaching, poverty, and study as tools of evangelization. He is credited with promoting the Rosary and trained his friars to engage heresy with learning rather than force. His order produced Thomas Aquinas and Catherine of Siena.

Why it matters for your parish: The founder of the Dominicans and promoter of the Rosary — his charism of preaching and learning speaks to any parish with adult education or strong Marian devotion.
