St. John Baptist de la Salle
A seventeenth-century French priest who surrendered his family inheritance to educate poor children, founding the Brothers of the Christian Schools and pioneering teaching in students' native languages. His methods became the foundation of modern Catholic education. He is the patron saint of teachers.
