St. Peter Chanel
A nineteenth-century French Marist priest sent to the island of Futuna in the South Pacific who was killed in 1841 on the orders of the island's chief — whose own son had just asked to be baptized. Within months of his death, the entire island had converted. He is the patron saint of Oceania.
Why it matters for your parish:
One of the most striking missionary stories in modern Catholic history — the blood of a martyr became the seed of an entire people's faith. Powerful Easter season content on mission.
