A fifteenth-century Italian Augustinian nun known as the patron of impossible causes. Rita lived as a wife and mother before entering religious life after her husband's murder and her sons' deaths. She prayed for a thorn from the crown of Christ and received a wound in her forehead that remained until her death. She is one of the most beloved popular saints in Italy.
Why it matters for your parish:St. Rita draws enormous devotion precisely because she speaks to suffering that seems impossible to bear — widowhood, loss of children, and unanswered prayer. Content for her feast reaches people in deep need.
