Two young North African women martyred in Carthage in 203 AD — Perpetua was a noblewoman and nursing mother, Felicity a pregnant slave. Their prison diary, written in part by Perpetua herself, is one of the earliest texts written by a Christian woman. Their names are in the Roman Canon of the Mass.
Why it matters for your parish:One of the most moving martyrdom accounts in Church history — Perpetua's own words survive. Excellent Women's History Month content and a powerful witness to the Gospel's radical equality.
