June 29

Sts. Peter and Paul

The Solemnity of the two pillars of the Church — Peter, the fisherman from Galilee who became the first pope, and Paul, the persecutor who became the Apostle to the Gentiles. Both were martyred in Rome under Nero around 64-68 AD. This is one of the oldest and most important feasts in the entire liturgical calendar.

Why it matters for your parish: A Solemnity of the highest importance — June 29 is a major content day. The contrast between the two saints shows how God works through radically different people.
