September 14
The Exaltation of the Holy Cross
A Feast celebrating the recovery of the True Cross by Emperor Heraclius from the Persians in 628 AD and its triumphant return to Jerusalem. The Cross is raised and venerated, not mourned — this is a celebration of victory, not defeat.
Why it matters for your parish:
A Feast honoring the Cross not as a symbol of suffering alone but as the instrument of salvation and victory. "We adore your cross, O Lord, and we praise and glorify your holy Resurrection." Essential September content.
