A memorial honoring the angels entrusted by God to watch over each human soul throughout life. The feast was extended to the universal Church by Pope Paul V in 1608. Jesus himself referred to the angels of children: "Their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven." The prayer to one's guardian angel is among the first prayers taught to Catholic children.
Why it matters for your parish:One of the most universally loved Catholic devotions — virtually every Catholic learned the Guardian Angel prayer as a child. Excellent content for families, children's ministry, or the beginning of October.
