The Holy Innocents
A Feast commemorating the male children of Bethlehem massacred by order of King Herod in his attempt to kill the infant Jesus. Their number is unknown and they are honored as martyrs who died for Christ without knowing him — the first fruits of the Incarnation.
Why it matters for your parish:
A Feast of profound theological and contemporary relevance — innocent children killed in proximity to the Christ child. The connection to the protection of the unborn is drawn naturally from this feast in many parishes.
