Sts. Cyril and Methodius
Two ninth-century Greek brothers and missionaries to the Slavic peoples who created the Glagolitic alphabet — the precursor to Cyrillic — specifically to translate the Bible and liturgy into the Slavonic language. Their insistence on worshiping in the people's own language rather than only Latin was revolutionary. They are co-patrons of Europe alongside St. Benedict.
Why it matters for your parish:
Saints who literally gave people an alphabet so they could read Scripture in their own language — a profound story of inculturation. Highly relevant for multilingual parishes or those reflecting on evangelization.
